Message I have a rebuilt rack, new SPL outer tie rods, new steering u-joint (steering knuckle) and ES rack bushings.

There is play inside the rack. About 1/8-1/4 inch of free play of the steering wheel. Everything else it tight. I was wondering if anyone had adjusted the internal play in the rack and wouldn't mind sharing how they did it, and how it worked out? Please feel free to email me if you don't want to post.

To be clear, this play has NOTHING to do with rack bushings, steering u-joint, tension rods or anything else. It is internal play INSIDE the rack, presumably between the rack and pinion.

My original ~240K mile rack did not have this internal play, but the seals were leaking like a sieve.

Thanks,

Mike
